University Planning

Campus Planning:

  • Undertake Campus wide planning and analysis activities including periodic updates to the University Master Plan for the Storrs and regional campuses
  • Participation in the development of the university's capital budget plan including facilities program definition for various campus stakeholder groups
  • Undertake land use and district planning.
  • Preparation and management of institutional space and facilities needs assessments
  • Assistance with planning of campus wide systems such as transportation, parking and access management
  • Liaison to community and governmental entities related to campus planning activities
  • Provide assistance with smart growth development policies

Landscape Planning

  • Management of the University’s overall landscape character and maintenance of campus site design and landscape design standards
  • Oversight and coordination of site design, landscape design and public art projects
  • Oversight of memorial trees and bench projects
  • Oversight of tree plantings, tree removals and tree protection policies
  • Provide assistance with pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and coordination
  • Provide assistance with campus sustainability infrastructure including storm water system design; exterior lighting, outdoor furnishings
  • Support the University parking committee
  • Support the University public art committee

Space Management

  • Develop and manage space allocation and feasibility studies
  • Manages space requests and assignments
  • Manage the Space Inventory Database (FAMIS)
  • Maintain CAD floor plans for Space Inventory Database
  • Provide building and room numbers

Project Design Management

  • Assistance with Capital Project development and budgets
  • Selection of design and design review teams
  • Support for university departments and consulting design firms to assure that the program needs are met and projects are feasible within budget constraints.
  • Management of interior and exterior signage design standards
  • Management of programming and aesthetic issues throughout project pre-planning and design of large scale capital projects
  • Participation in the development and application of campus design standards
