Summer Construction Update | April 2019

As UConn enters its 2019 summer construction season, the Office of University Planning, Design & Construction, Facilities Operations and other key departments have been coordinating efforts and identified areas of campus where improvements will be made to our buildings, infrastructure and grounds.

Due to logistics and activities associated with those improvements, traffic patterns in the following districts will be directly impacted:

NORTH CAMPUS

AUDITORIUM ROAD & EXT:  CLOSED NOW THROUGH FALL 2020

  •  NO THROUGH TRAFFIC BETWEEN N EAGLEVILLE ROAD & JORGENSEN ROAD

ATHLETICS DISTRICT

JIM CALHOUN WAY: CLOSED BETWEEN FREITAS ICE FORUM AND ALUMNI DRIVE, NOW THROUGH SUMMER 2020

  • NO THROUGH TRAFFIC FROM SEPARATIST ROAD TO HILLSIDE ROAD
  • ACCESS PERMITTED TO LOT I VIA SEPARATIST ROAD THROUGH SUMMER 2020
  • BUS, SPECIAL EVENT & GAME TRAFFIC ROUTING THROUGH HILLTOP APARTMENTS WHEN NECESSARY

JIM CALHOUN WAY / ALUMNI DR INTERSECTION:  CLOSED 2-3 WEEKS, BEGINNING AFTER COMMENCEMENT

  • DETOURS AT LOT D AND BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS CENTER

ALUMNI DRIVE:  ALTERNATING DIRECTION BETWEEN JIM CALHOUN WAY AND HUSKY CIRCLE

  •  BEGINNING IN JUNE OR JULY FOR UP TO 3-4 WEEKS (TBA)

EAST CAMPUS

HORSEBARN HILL ROAD EXTENSION:  CLOSED THROUGH SUMMER, BEGINNING AFTER COMMENCEMENT

  • NO THROUGH TRAFFIC BETWEEN CT-195 AND HORSEBARN HILL

CORE CAMPUS

HILLSIDE ROAD:  OCCASIONAL ALTERNATING DIRECTION AT GAMPEL THROUGH SUMMER, BEGINNING AFTER COMMENCEMENT

  • TEMPORARY SINGLE LANE DURING WEEKDAYS, BETWEEN JIM CALHOUN WAY AND FAIRFIELD WAY
  • PAVING BETWEEN WEST CAMPUS RESIDENCE HALLS AND FAIRFIELD WAY, BEGINS MID TO LATE SUMMER (TBA)

SOUTH CAMPUS

COVENTRY ROAD & MAPLE LANE: CLOSED THROUGH SUMMER, BEGINNING AFTER COMMENCEMENT

  • NO THROUGH TRAFFIC BETWEEN MANSFIELD ROAD AND BOLTON ROAD
  • ACCESS TO LOT S AND SOUTH CAMPUS RESIDENCE HALLS FROM BOLTON ROAD

WHITNEY ROAD EXTENSION:  CLOSED NOW THROUGH FALL

  • NO THROUGH TRAFFIC BETWEEN WHITNEY ROAD AND GILBERT ROAD

Project names, locations and anticipated schedules, as well as additional information on these and other campus roads, are shown on these maps.  Construction sites and traffic patterns are subject to change however updates will be published monthly, or more regularly when the significance of those changes warrant.
